Dinner at Glenarder.

Summer days mean bbq’s at Glenarder, and being married to a Canadian man means bbqing is a very serious thing! My husband ‘shuns’ gas bbq’s like they are a sin, happily nurturing and tending a wood bbq (or coals at a push) with patience and love.

There is something so satisfyingly primal and peaceful about preparing and eating food outside surrounded by fresh air and stunning scenery.

Our favourite go to bbq meal is simply fresh fish, local if possible. Thankfully for us my parents live in Buckie so we usually drop in to Mair Fish, down by the harbour and choose something from their days offering. Bountiful stuffed herbs from the garden, lemon and butter the fish is gently cooked over the bbq. Serve with a chilled white wine of choice …dinner and location does not get any better than that.
